Our Region 324 is part of the American Youth Soccer Organization, the largest youth soccer organization in the United States, with over 600,000 participating children and over 250,000 volunteer coaches, referees and administrators. AYSO is a nationwide non-profit organization that develops and delivers quality youth soccer programs in a fun, family environment, relying principally on parent volunteers to deliver the program.
Region 324, part of Section 3/Area T, includes the tri-village communities of Ardsley, Dobbs Ferry and Hastings-on-Hudson, supporting over 1200 players. Our programs follow the school year and are comprised of eight weekends of Saturday practices and Sunday games in the Fall (early September through mid-November) and another eight weekends of practices/games in the Spring (early April through mid-June).
Registration takes place in March for the upcoming school year. As an all-volunteer organization, we actively solicit parents at registration to volunteer to coach, referee and assist with the administration of our programs.
AYSO operates pursuant to 5 Philosophies:
Everyone Plays Every child receives equal playing time, regardless of skill, and plays a minimum of half of each game, and generally much more.
Open Registration We use sign-ups not tryouts. Our programs are open to all children between the ages of 4 1/2 and 18, attending school within our three-village community. As long as there s space on a team, every child who signs up will play. Here are the age guidelines used by our region.
Balanced Teams We organize all teams to be as evenly balanced as possible. We do not emphasize winning, nor do we keep standings. We emphasize fun and learning.
Positive Coaching We build soccer skills and self-esteem through encouragement and teaching.
Good Sportsmanship Our programs promote positive behavior on field and sidelines. We teach lessons for life, as well as soccer.
